iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-09-01 01:27:03Dear Swirly Users,
We know that many of you are wondering what
is going on with the so much sought after release for firmware 2.x. We
have been working really hard lately and today we were able to send the
first MMSs between different devices running firmware 2.x on iPhone 3G
and 2G!

Of
course, you are all wondering when will this be made public? It is hard
to say, and you all know how bad I am at making guesstimates... There
are a few issues left, not major ones, but still issues, until we can
make an official 1.2 release for the 2.x firmware. So lets say maybe
two weeks from now. Maybe, maybe...
Stay tuned!
Swirl over to our forum for screenshots.

iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-07-07 23:37:24SwirlyMMS v1.1 has just been released. It is packed with important
corrections and a few new features, some of them listed below:
1)
Sending an MMS to multiple receivers is now handled the correct way
which means that the MMS is just sent once and not, as before, one
single MMS to each of the receivers.
2) A received non-UTF8 encoded text part could sometimes result in that the whole text part didn't show up at all.
3) Corrected a crash that some users always suffered from when opening a new MMS in the Inbox.
4) A few users at certain operators suffered from seeing a totaly empty MMS when opening them in the Inbox.
5)
Sometimes it was not possible to receive and send an MMS when WiFi was
enabled/active. That is now corrected. Wifi can be left on all the time.
6) Ability for users to create emails containing logfiles and other useful information and send it to us.
... and a lot of other smaller things ...
Have fun,
The Swirly Team
iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-06-27 01:26:30Best Swirly users,
after having travelled on a very long journey
and having put countless of hours into this project, we are now
extremely happy and proud to finally have reached our goal of releasing
a full-featured MMS application to the iPhone community!
This SwirlyMMS v1.0 release brings you the following features:
- An
easy-to-use user-interface, inspired by the mail application, which
allows you to navigate through your received and sent multimedia
messages.
- Ability to send and receive: images, text, audio, video. In fact, you can send and receive any file you like!
- You
will be able to send and receive messages containing multiple
multimedia parts. For example you can send an image together with a
long text in the same message.
- A built-in media viewer is provided so that you can easily view your messages from within SwirlyMMS.
- You can easily reply to the sender, or forward the message.
- You will be able to select multiple recipients.
- You can save an multimedia message part to a file of your choice.
- You can save an image to your camera roll (/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE) and view it with the Photo application.
- To
send a photo, you will be able to select it, not only from your camera
roll but also from your synched photo library or use the built-in file
browser to pick any file.
- Also, you will be able to take a photo with the camera from within SwirlyMMS and send it right away.
- When composing a multimedia message with several parts, you can easily rearrange and remove any part.
- To
help you configure the application with the MMS settings, we have
developed a package which handles settings delivered over-the-air!
We
would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who have
downloaded and used our previous version v0.3.8 (you are about
500.000(!)) and all of our donators and swirlyspace.com forum users!
And, of course, an extra big thank you goes to our brave beta testers
who have given us great and valuable feedback and helped us releasing
this major upgrade of our application!
As you may already know, this v1.0 release is not free. :-( But it is cheap, or a bargain as some people say :-)
It costs only $8 USD, and you will be able to use a full-featured demo
version in 14 days before you decide to buy. If you like it, you buy it
easily with your VISA, American Express or MasterCard via a secure
Paypal link.
Just add http://swirlyspace.com/SwirlySpace.xml
to your source in the Installer application and you are off to swirl
away MMSs. In a day or two from now, you will find this release in one
of the community sources, probably in STE's repository.
As
we
have stated before, all of you who have donated and supported our early
development efforts will have this release for "free". Just install
v1.0, click the Buy button, read and accept the license agreements,
click Buy, which starts the Safari Web browser. Click the '+'-sign and
choose "Mail Link to this Page", which starts the email application.
Together with the link, add your Paypal confirmation number to this
email and then send it to:
[email protected]. We will take care of
the rest :-) So, from now on, you must buy the application. It is not
enough to donate $1...
We
will continue our efforts in developing this application even further
and will bring new exciting features in the forthcoming versions. Also,
we will of course support the application via our forum over at http://swirlyspace.com/forum
Thanks again to all of you!
Regards,
The Happy and Proud SwirlySpace Team
Tommy & Mats
iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-06-13 21:18:55Hi all Swirly users!
Thanks for all the greetings and nice words from all of you around the Swirly space! And thanks to all of you who volunteered to test the beta version of our application!
In this first round of testing, we have decided to use only a handful of beta testers to be able to keep up with the feedback. Hopefully, this test round won’t last very long and we aim to release a v1.0 later this month.
We haven't said so before, but do now... We have put a huge amount of effort in developing this application, which started out as a combination of pure programming pleasure, curiosity of exploring the inner workings of this wonderful device and solving a concrete and major problem (guess which

). After having accomplished our initial goals it would have been easy to move on to the next project. But, instead we have decided to stick with this creature of ours and improve it even further. In order to be able to keep working with the app and spend way too much time in doing so, we have decided to charge for it. Maybe some of you get disappointed by this fact and think that this is a bad move and that we should keep developing and release it for free… So, in order to try to not upset you too much we will keep the price tag low. We have settled on $8. And those of you who have donated will of course get it for free. Also, you will all have a trial-period to try it out. We hope for your understanding and that you will like v1.0!
Regards,
The SwirlySpace Team

iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-06-10 20:37:51Hi all Swirly Users,
Now that Apple released their updated
iPhone, still with no MMS, we feel that time is right to announce that
we will finally release a v1.0-beta of our application SwirlyMMS, which
brings MMS to the iPhone! We aim to release the beta to a few users
later this week and to the rest of the world later this month.
Stay tuned!
Tommy & Mats
PS. We understand if you are a tad sceptical about our estimated time schedule above ;-) But this time, we think we are right...
PS2. We are sorry to say, but this release won't be available in the official AppStore due to Apple's restrictive sandbox model. So, as before, you need to have a jailbroken iPhone and then install SwirlyMMS with a one-click through the Installer application.
iPhonePosted by Tommy Svensson 2008-04-09 17:59:35Hi all Swirly users!
Since we get several emails asking the same thing we will answer you all here. And the answer is yes, we are now in the phase of putting together the big 1.0-release, which delivers loads of new and improved features!
With this release, we will bring you an easy-to-use user-interface, inspired by the mail application, which allows you to navigate through your received and sent multi-media messages.
Speaking of multi-media, in this release you will not be limited to send and receive images - you will be able to send and receive images, text, audio and video.
You will be able to send and receive messages containing multiple multi-media parts. For example you can send an image together with a long text in the same message.
We will provide a built-in media viewer so that you can easily view your messages from within SwirlyMMS.
You can easily reply to, or forward the message and you will be able to select multiple recipients.
You will be able to save a multi-media item to a file of your choice.
To send a photo, you will be able to select it, not only from your camera roll but also from your synched photo library or use the built-in file browser to pick any file.
Also, you will be able to take a photo with the camera from within SwirlyMMS and send it right away.
To help you configure the application with the MMS settings, we have developed a package which handles settings delivered over-the-air!
So, you may think that all this sounds pretty good, but of course you still wonder: when will a version that includes all these features be released? And the answer on that is: hopefully within, hmmm... maybe three-four weeks.
/Tommy&Mats
PS.
We will publish a couple of screenshots really soon. Stay tuned!
DS.
PS2.
We have plans on adding really cool and useful features in the next forthcoming releases :-)
DS2.
