If you update your iphone above firmware 3.0 you can't use the old swirlymms anymore, you have to upgrade to the new one. And to top that off I am with ATT for the moment at least with the new phone. And from what I hear there is a lot of trouble getting swirlymms2 to work on ATT if you can at all and they don't even have a demo anymore so I can make sure that I will be able to get it working. It is just give me your money and heck with you check with the forums.

In regards to ATT:
AT&T has been a constant issue with MMS on the iPhone from even some of the earliest versions of SwirlyMMS .. once they realized iphone users were able to do MMS they actively started blocking it in any way they could.. work arounds were to contact AT&T and a) hope you got a stupid rep who would follow some steps given on the forums here.. b) convince them you're using a different phone on your account c) go with a family plan with MMS d) hope your region wasn't affected ... then after all that, you had to hope that the snooper software they run doesn't detect and block your iphone again .... the point is it's been a constant struggle for AT&T users irregardless of the swirly version .. there's no black magic in one version over the other to make it work, there's just not.
In regards to buying an upgrade for SwirlyMMS:
This is just how things are sometimes, the 2.x versions are legacy and no longer supported on new firmware.. I wouldn't want to have to maintain previous versions either ... two programmers having to maintain a 1.x, 2.x and 3.x branch every time a new update comes out from Apple is silly to expect .. especially for software that cost you the price of lunch or a cheap dinner .. (hell, it's the price of a movie now days) .. upgrading is cheap if you have a previous version.. it's even cheap if you don't
In regards to having a replaced phone:
The guys have dealt with this before, contacting them will result in them deactivating your previous license and activating a new one ... there's no charge to do so but it may take a couple of days to process the request.
I'm not a member of the swirly team but I've been here since the earliest version.. I've been very active here until recently because my own career is occupying much of my time..
