GO PHONE & SWIRLY & ATT IPHONE EQUALS SUCCESSFUL MMS!!!

I just bought a GO PHONE. Not sure what the cheapest one is, but there under $20. I put my iPhone sim in it...sent a tm to my number via email. The GO received it. Then went to ATT wireless, my account, saw the GO, and switched to non iPhone tm plan. I then sent an MMS from the GO to the GO phone. The GO received it. I then put the sim back in the iPhone and Swirly works like a charm....not sure for how long. Anyway, I have a spare emergency phone now and mms works on my iPhone. I know this nothing new, but most people that get swirly working always seem to have multiple phones on their account. I have i'd phone on the standard att $40/$30 plan. I used swirly's settigs wiz too.

I called att and the rep (who barely spoke english) and she gave me a hard time about setting up the wap push and the different non-iphone text messaging plan. She did enable the wap push though. if this go phone method works flawlessly with swirly mms on the iphone im gonna proceed and finally reach an end to the ongoing mms-for-iphone quest. I just don't wanna be the guinea pig

I can't vouch for the people at the forum below, there are a couple people who tried the go phone method and it worked for them. I bought mine from Target for 19.99. It is a Nokia 2610. I tried all the settings crap and calling AT&T customer service before....waste of time. Do the go phone method...it will pop up on your AT&T my account page soon after you put your iPhone sim in.

long time reader first time poster. I have been searching high and low for somehow to get MMS working on the iPhone. I have been watching these swirly forums for months trying to figure out a way to get it to work and nothing ever did. Finally I saw the goPhone idea and it worked. I went to the local wal-mart and bought one for 20 bucks and put my SIM in it. sent a text to myself and registered an ATT media net site with the my number which sent a text to my phone to register at the site and it worked. I was also able to access media net from the phone. waited about 20 minutes or so and logged into my account online and saw new features under messaging. i selected the messaging 1500 because I had the iPhone text 1500. changed it over to messaging 1500 with no problem. sent an MMS on the goPhone and it worked successfully. So i popped the SIM back in my iPhone fired up swirly and it sent and recieved an MMS with no problem at all. just used the wizard and picked the first setting that popped up. I bought swirly immediately. this is great I can't thank you enough this is awesome. why can't Apple and ATT allow this it makes no sense but once again so many dedicated people made this happen thank again.
Just to let you know if you look at your bill online at ATT website and look at the full details under the iPhone text messaging plan it has a MMS opt out underneath it. So it is because of an agreement between ATT and Apple MMS is not working.

i wasn't expecting YOU, riley2323, you to vouch for me but it does seem like from the links you sent it is a complete success. just got to remember to switch the olam go phone to iphone, THEN switch the sim card. correct?
oh and does there have to be a time delay between switch olam vs. the sim card? like do i have to wait 20 minutes between the switches?

When you put your sim in the GO PHONE it automatically updates your OLAM. You just need to look for the non iPhone SMS messaging plan. In my case there were 2 $15 plans.....one iPhone SMS and one regular SMS. You need to choose the regular SMS plan. Send yourself an SMS and mms from the GO to the Go. You should recieve them on your go at that point. Put the sim back in the iPhone and you should be in business. The OLAM will revert back to the iPhone icon automatically.

I got a little over-excited. It worked for one day and then now i am getting http response 403 forbidden error. So i tried and put my iPhone SIM back in the goPgone to try the setup again and it switched my OLAM but I cannot access Media Net on the phone saying server access denied and also cannot send MMS from the goPhone. My OLAM still says messaging 1500. So it looks like ATT caught me after one day and stopped my progress. I still get the green M but nothing send or receives. I will keep trying and update with any progress. by the way the settings I am using are:

MMSC - http://mmsc.cingular.com/ims
Proxy - wireless.cingular.com

APN - blank
Username - blank
Password - blank

Image Size - Max
UserAgent - Samsung -BJ2(ATT)

I got the 2610 and tried it ...so far it's working. I haven't turned off my phone to see if it sticks.
