AT&T: SWIRLYMMS WORKS ON IPHONE ---FINALLY---

Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

I would like a refund. It's obvious that a very, very small number of ATT (US) subscribers have actually had any luck with this app. There should be a warning displayed through Cydia, not here at this forum. I'm not trying to be a dick and it seems that it has worked for some in the US using ATT; but @ $8.00 a pop it isn't fair to those who have paid and never had a chance. The deck has been stacked. FWIW. :-(

OK! Here is what I done.....

After installing a new SIM card for my Motorola RazR V3. I went to the At&t site and rechecked my MMS setting and Browser settings in it. First I had to convince myself by logging on the internet with the RazR. After looking at the saetting for the browser in the support page I finally got on the internet. I must say, after viewing the websites onit took me way back. So that took care of the internet.

Now for the MMS settings. I notice that I did not have a WEB ACCESS setup correct for my particular phone. "MEdia Net!" After I correct the matter, I was then sending pictures again. I did got on at the MEdianet site, and while I was there I added a Hotmail site to my phone via internet successfully. I took a 30 minutes break. Then carefully remembering the settings such as the gateway address within the RazR 66.209.11.61, I tried it but it did not work. So I then tried the ones mentioned at the forum here and yes it did work. However it did took a little time to feed through, but worked. I believe I needed to set it to maximum instead of medium. I set the phone device as NOKIA N95 in hopes that if they loop every night that they would not see iphone on it. Other than that, it worked. My only question is how to avoid them from seeing my iphone use?

FINAL STATEMENT "Will they block my use of Swirly via using Iphone :D now?"

Yea, I know. I installed it a while back then went on vacation. By the time I got back it was to late. It's my fault because I didn't even check here first after I got back. I just assumed it was a working application.

So far so good for me.

I'm still sending and receiving using the sim swap method.

My biggest question is why AT&T doesn't allow MMS messaging. That's just a mystery.

abeasst, i'm having the same issues. I've called at&t and had them enable both wap push's, had them re-send my ota and reset my vlr. I also had them give me a non-iphone texting plan. I am receiving MMS's in my swirly inbox but when i go to retrive them it says "fetch error: unexpected http response"... when i try to send one it says "possible incorrect mmsc setting. unexpected http response (HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden).

Hey all,

It will make no difference what settings you apply. Currently the AT&T MMS proxy (the "computers" that deal with all the MMS requests on the AT&T network) actually blocks all iPhone IMEI's. The IMEI is like your phone's VIN number. The only thing you can do is change your phone's IMEI (very illegal) - then it would work perfectly. Also - there hasn't been a tool to allow this on anything other than the iPhone 1.x firmware series (ZiPhone). Haven't tried it myself I've just had to suck it up and email.

The good news is that AT&T has recenty released some information pointing to changing this. All they have to do is flip a switch and it would work.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I've read through this whole thread and decided I would do what page 5 told me. So I called AT&T and the first person I talked to told me she would have to transfer me to Tech Support, and at Tech Support she told me "We cannot enable WAP Push for an iPhone, sadly there is no way for us to do it".

What do I do now?

EVERYONE READ THIS:

My account was swept 3 times in the last 2 weeks now. The last 2 times it seemed to happen immediately after I let iTunes sync my phone. I'm wondering if there is a coralation between syncing with iTumes. I suppose it's possible for the registry to get reset to some previously syncd version when this happens.

Either way there are 2 important things for people to keep in mind. AT&T is upping the sweeps and now it seem to happen almost weekly. The other thing is that it's possible that syncing your phone with iTunes is also doing something , sending something to AT&T, or something else that's causing the MMS features to stop working on AT&T's network.

This time like others I called AT&T , spoke with tech support , asked them to resend the OTA's , and CLEAR the VLR's. The tech did this without really questioning things... This fixed the problem, however they keep notes of each time you call so after a handful of times they will for sure notice what you're doing.

Also the MediaNet thing only works if you DO NOT have an iPhone data plan. You can switch it to a BlackBerry type of plan but then you loose Visual VoiceMail, and to me that's a lot more useful than MMS right now.

I'm starting to see the writing on the wall here. Now that AT&T is well aware of what lots of people are doing, they are taking proactive steps to stop it. These steps will without a doubt increase every day... and in little time they will have a completely automated solution to killing this stuff daily. Even if they just sweep as they seem to be doing, calling them all the time to reset things is a serious pain in the ass. Just keep that in mind.
