iphone 1st gen with t-mobile: not working please help

Postby underground00 on 13 Nov 2008, 04:49

Ok, so I downloaded the swirlymms. Followed instructions all the way through. Placed the settings as asked, and to this moment I get the same message. "Failure: GPRS/G3/Edge currently not active. Please check your settings." I have read other post with people with the same problem and I placed the settings that worked for them but mine still not working. I have a 1st gen iPhone with the latest update. I am using t-mobile, and I do have t-zones working perfect. Thanks.

Ok. Somehow it started working. It took a while for the "M" to turn green. Now it's sending the messages but they are
Coming out blank.

Swirly MMS always worked for me with the listed settings, now it does not. I receive the message.

"Failure
You don't have an active GPRS/EDGE/3G connection for the moment! This can be due to a temporary problem in the network or that your APN settings are incorrect. Please verify your APN settings on the Settings page."

I recently upgraded from 1.4 firmware to 2.1 firmware, but SwirlyMMS did work after the upgrade, it has recently stopped working within the last few days.

Hi Jeepdiver,

How did you do your upgrade? I'm trying to upgrade my 1st gen to the 2.1 firmware....

Where did you go to do the upgrade??? I have tmobile as well and I'm scared it might lock up if upgrade the firmware.

Please let me know! Thanks, Dee

4 files are needed.

quickpwn21-1.zip
BL-39.bin
BL-41.bin
iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw

This thread is directed as to whether I have a user encountered error on my end, related to my upgrade, in my settings or has t-mobile changed anything on their end I need to know about?

Issue resolved.

if you upgrade a 1st gen iPhone with 1.4 firmware to 2.1 firmware, then install BossPrefs do not enable 3G in BossPrefs. SwirlyMMS will not function correctly. Such a conflict appears to override the EDGE settings required to receive MMS messages.

Of course a 1st gen iPhone does not have 3G capability, yet it can be enabled via a software setting in BossPrefs, hence the error.

I am not a techie. The setting is there in BossPrefs, whether to enable 3G or not.

BossPrefs can be installed using Cydia from the repository BigBoss & Planet-iPhones
