i can't make swirly work with my wireless connection

I am using the latest version, which apparently works with wi-fi. I have Edge turned off due to the unbelievably high rates here in Spain. But when i try to send a MMS it displays the message that the EDGE connectipn is not active...

I was told this version worked with wireless connections but it seems it doesn't. Can any kind soul throw any light on this matter?

Swirly NEEDS edge/gprs. It does not use wifi but it leavs it (wifi) on now in opposite to what it did in version 0.2 where we switched wifi off to force all mms traffic out on edge.

All mms traffic needs edge since that is the only way the operators allow the traffic to go.
