iPhone 2g Swirly stopped working AT&T

Postby murphidaho on 01 Jan 2010, 23:01

The other day my SwirlyMMS just quite working for me. I am notified when I get a new MMS and the green "m" is displayed by the battery, but i get a fetch error when I try and retrieve my messages. I use AT&T in the U.S.

I purchased SwirlyMMS 2 when it first came out and have been using ever since.

I have an iPhone first generation with OS 3.1.2. I have had Swirly working under 3.1.2 for quite awhile.

My settings have always been:

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32

I have swapped my SIM card into two different phones and when I do this, I can receive MMS. This makes me believe that I do have wap enabled on my account. I have the AT&T Messaging unlimited for families...so I should have wap.

Please, Anybody have any ideas as to what my problem could be??

A quick update...

I talked to At&t today. Told them that I required MMS for my job and said that I would be swapping my SIM card in and out of an MMS capable AT&T phone.

The service representative was very helpful and responsive. He said he would do anything he could to help me out.

After around 20 minutes on hold while he consulted with others and researched the matter, he told me that it was impossible to enable MMS on the line while the iPhone plan existed.

Even though I have the "family unlimited" with MMS, the provisioning system will automatically detect an iphone on the line and disable MMS capability.

I've had it working for months before this!!

At this point I am simply wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience or if anyone knows if At&t has made a change to the way their system operates.
