Does SwirlyMMS2 download full message in background?

Postby rydan on 06 Dec 2009, 15:07

I can't remember when I first downloaded SwirlyMMS but I think it was almost two years ago. Until last week I was still using it on my 1.1.2 iPhone with a PrePaid T-Mobile plan that costs me $0.05 per received SMS/MMS. When I originally downloaded SwirlyMMS it worked perfectly but if I went to my inbox it would then download all my messages. This was the expected behavior but it would cost me a bundle each time I accidentally downloaded my messages (I don't care about their content, I just care to know I have them). After a while it quit working and would only download the headers. My phone would still vibrate or ring when I received an MMS. This was perfect for me since it meant I got unlimited MMS alerts without having to pay for them (I couldn't read them, but like I said I don't care to actually read them).

Last week I decided to finally upgrade to 3.1.2. I'm prepared to buy a license but I want to make sure the behavior is still the same. Since there is no longer a free trial I have no way to find out. Is it possible to only have SwirlyMMS2 download the headers? Fetching the entire message in the background would be completely unacceptable for my use.

It doesn't .. I wish it did, I believe it only does that if you're using SwirlyNET

It is unfortunately a feature that's been requested for a long long time..
