Can I use Swirly (before I purchase!)

Postby Dee_ann on 26 Nov 2009, 06:08

Hi!

I would love to have this app but I'm worried it may not work and I don't want to drop a load of cash on something else I can not use.

Ok what I have is the following.

I am a Centennial Wireless (SE Texas) customer. Have been for years.
I am NOT and never, ever will be an AT&T customer. Not even if it was free. Mkay?

I have an old Nokia 6126 cell phone. It CAN send and recieve MMS and SMS.
I have sent videos, photos and ringtones to friends, even to a friend who is on Verizon.
People, including people from other carriers have sent me videos, pictures and ringtones to my Nokia phone.
And of course it has SMS.
I do NOT subscribe to myblue, the Centennial internet data option. The Nokia has NO internet access at all.

I now have an iPhone. It's an old 1st generation, aka 2g. I bought it used on ebay.
I took the SIM from my Nokia and put it in my iPhone.
I updated the iPhone OS to 3.1.2 through iTunes on my Windows 7 pc.
I unlocked it and jailbroke it with blackra1n then installed bootneuter through Cydia.
My iPhone now works great on Centennial Wireless.

I am able to send and receive SMS messages through my iPhone to my friends through Centennial.
I can do that anywhere, if I can make a phone call, I can do SMS.
Again, I do NOT have a wireless internet plan through Centennial (their plan is myblue). Do. Not. Have.

I do have a wireless router at home, a wifi deal. So when and only when I am in my home, I have FULL internet access but only in my home. I also am able to use my friends wifi when I am in their home.
But when I'm driving around, in the store, etc, I have no internet.

My question is, can I use SwirlyMMS on my 2g 3.1.2 iPhone?
If so, will I be limited to using it only when I am in my home or around an open wifi?
Or will I be able to send and receive MMS stuff *ANYWHERE* just like I am able to do with the fonky old Nokia (that I no longer use.) ????

I tried one or two sample MMS programs (other, off brand stuff, you know, like Brand-X MMS) and they sent a few test photos to my friend. But, I did it at home and I assume it went through my wifi. I suspect they would not work away from the wifi. And an annoying thing about them, I had to know a lot of techincal things about the people I was trying to send a picture to! I had to call my friend first and ask her what freaking cell phone company she uses! Too much trouble!

I just need my iPhone to do MMS like my ANCIENT old Nokia has been doing for years.

Please let me know, if Swirly will work, I will purchase it. If not, well, I need to find something that will.

Thank you! :)

No reply? Oh come on now, please! Some one please help me with this question!
I'm serious, I really do need to know straight up the truth, yes or no.
I'm not going to spend $12 on something I can not use.

I just spent $42 buying and entire season of a soap opera on Amazon.com unbox only to find out it will NOT play on my new pc. Unbox and Windows 7 64bit don't work together. Now I'm out $42 and very unhappy about it.
I don't want to do a repeat.

PLEASE!??????????

Thank you.

STILL nothing? Oh come on now. With this sort of response time I can see I would be better off spending my money on a different app.

Still waiting, but not much longer..... :(
