Ad hoc distribution

Hello. I read through the forums that (sadly, in my point of view) SwirlyMMS wouldn't be distributed in App Store. I was thinking, how about ad hoc distribution, which lets the developer choose who can use a distributed app? You could allow the usage on non-jailbroken phones only to those customers who paid for the license...

as far as I know you can not install or run none apple approved software on none jail broken phones, it's just not possible and since APple wont' certify this app, there is no point to distribute it by anything other then Cydia or Installer.app.

I downloaded a beta version of a program, which the developer sent me via a normal dmg. This app isn't in the AppStore yet, but it's on my phone
