Force Swirly to use Cell Data Service

I just put up a posting in "Support" outlining how I have to turn off my WiFi in order to force Swirly to access the MMS server through AT&T's data service. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it would be nice if there was a setting in Swirly to force a connection through the cellular network, even if there was a WiFi connection present. Even with this minor inconvenience, it is a GREAT app! Nice work.

SwirlyMMS will not fetch over Wi-Fi nor will any cellular provider allow access to their proxy via a Wi-Fi connection.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Your AT&T woes are, well, AT&T related.

My comment was not about any "AT&T woes" it was about the fact that for some reason, Swirly tries to access the MMS server and proxy through the WiFi connection, if it's available. I was wondering if the program could be modified so that Swirly ALWAYS tries to fetch messages through the cellular data service, no matter whether or not a WiFi connection is present. When I have WiFi disabled, everything works perfect, even on AT&T! As you correctly pointed out, nobody's MMS works through WiFi, so it would seem logical to force Swirly to use a cellular data connection al the time, regardless or whether or not a WiFi network is conected.

I'm not sure if this is easy to do but it is a totally legit request, as I'm sure most wireless providers will not allow external IPs to access their system, it would have to use the providers access (EDGE/3G) to work properly. It would never work with wifi and if it's trying to it would always fail and turning wifi off 100% wouldn't be desirable for most users. I know I'd like to see this happen if it's possible.

But the real question is: What version of SwirlyMMS are you using?

The only time I've had to switch off Wi-Fi was way back before there was the ability to receive MMSs. The Swirly team has made it so that the app will not fetch over Wi-Fi, thus, the user is not forced to switch off Wi-Fi everytime they want to send and/or receive MMS.

And again, correct me if I'm wrong (Mats, Tommy).

I'm unfortunately not a user as I'm a Canadian and we haven't had iPhones till 2.0 so I'm still waiting for the opportunity. Just commenting on the original :D
