I got it working with the simswap... used an 8310 blackberry, set up the medianet account(s).. sent an mms, popped it back into the iphone and it's working... using the wireless.cingular.com:80 proxy, no APN, no username, etc... normal messaging plan (non family) and iphone data plan, wap push turned on and mms enabled on my account (yes, i got them to flip it on, for a 'backup phone' on the same line).. we'll see how long it lasts...

I should note, that the MMS's that swirly said i had previous to getting it all working.. there was nothing in the messages anymore.. I guess their server wipes them after a certain amount of time..

my friend is off today but works tommorrow i'll have him look into that and see what can be done, the thing is unlike other people here i like my visual voicemail and don't want to lose it for picture messaging, i want my phone to be able to do everything its supposed to plus have mms. and if my friend figures out what it is, i promise you this all you clowns that didn't help sure ain't getting an answer from me whats I figure this out.

I didn't lose or change anything that would lose VVM... I just have wap push on (and allegedly mms turned on or so the CSR said).., did the SIM switch, and it's still working as of right now..

so all i am asking for is your number to see what that feature code is that you have that i don't,

on a side note here is something really strange, i was playing with my iphone today and i don't know if you guys know, you can send mms with iphone as long as you know the default e-mail address for example please see link. http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2007/07/11328/

so i sent one using that method and emailed it to my friend phone number and he got it like a regular picture message not e-mail. and then he sent me one back and it went in my swirly mms inbox. I said what the heck let me try again and waited for the green M and OMG it works as of right now, sometimes the green m doesn't come on but i can exit the app and go back in and it works, i didn't change n e thing on my account as far as i know, so if it still works tommorrow im going to call my friend and ask him what 0 dollar features i have and i will share with those that were nice enough to try to help me figure this out.

Just a side note on the app.. there are times ill get a new message (mms) notification.. goto play it, but its a previous video that plays, as ill open it back up and click on the same new mms and it plays a new one.. seems to be something in the indexing off a bit at times...

the sim swap worked for me too. i just put my sim in an old razr i had. logged onto medianet and sent an mms from the razr. then i took the sim out and put it back in the iphone and as of right now it is still working

i didnt have to talk to anyone at att to enable wap or whatever.

i am on a family unlimited texting plan and the iphone data plan if that helps.

well im crossing my fingers on how long this is gonna work. the razr is always on standby if i need the swap again.

none of this stuff works for a 3g iphone.. maybe the changing sims between phones will work for a limited period of time, but i have alot of other stuff i can do rather than calling att to have the stuff set right..

anyway i called and talked to the tier tech ppl.. they go to snooper and TRY to but it will not allow them .. then they investigate a lil more and notice its the iphone im doing it for.. then all hope falls from that point they try to tell me why they cant get it to work and why it will not work so screw this im sure it would be awesome to use swirly but im not giving anymore time and effort for something that isnt gonna work eventually.. so congrats on all the ppl that have it working ...

^^This is exactly what has happened to me. They go on and try to enable it and when they click Enable Push Yes, it brings up an error in the system and reverts it back to know because i have an iphone. I dont know what else to do.

Again another person swearing this doesn't work....why does mine work and every other 3g someone has put in my hands???? YOU can't get YOUR 3g working.....that's all.

and I have a new piece to the puzzle for you all, ssh your phone, if you are still having prolems after you do all those steps and in that order....oh and AT&T can turn on WAP push, I had them do it to 5 phones TODAY, so maybe you are asking the wrong thing or being a dick and they said that to F*CK you I don't know. But I never have a problem other than the person doesn't know how and gets me someone who does.

go to your iphone with WinSCP or similar program, find etc/resolv.conf it will have a symlink to /var/run/resolv.conf but there may be NO SUCH FILE.....this is where things get wierd....it only effects the name resolve for very particular networking functions. Like you can still get a data IP for safari, even a wifi IP....but it won't do crap foryou when you try to, say MMS somebody.....try fixing that too, see if you still have a problem.

AND STOP TELLING PEOPLE IT DOESN'T WORK.....MINE DOES....HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT?????!?!?!!?!?!?!? EASY....YOU CAN'T GET YOURS TO WORK.....BUT THAT IS ALL THAT MEANS, YOU CAN'T GET YOURS TO WORK. I mean I feel bad for you, but why are you on a place with people who are providing solutions because those solutions worked for them trying to say it doesn't work.

Oh maybe you think we're all making it up for our entertainment???? No I have better things to do that that.....get past the anger issues bro, don't be mad at the world because your iPhone doesn't MMS....do you know how much other crap it does that ONLY it does. I mean like you do know like it probably could launch the space shuttle, there's just not an app for that yet????

OR HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A SOLUTION.....REVERT BACK TO FW2.2.0 UNLOCK YOUR PHONE AND USE T-MOBILES INFORMATION....SINCE AT&T IS THE ONLY CARRIER NOT PROVIDING EASY MMS SERVICE.
