MAYBE good news for AT&T customers UPDATED

YOUR RESULTS ARE WELCOME

We have got indications from AT&T customers that by changing the UserAgent to something that is officially supported by AT&T it will start to work. We are not yet sure about this but it is worth trying.

If this proves to be correct the AT&T-UserAgent will of course be included in the next release. In the mean time those of you that knows how to transfer files to your iPhone can try this:

1) Make sure your SwirlyMMS settings are like this:
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com:80
APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1

2) Download
Samsung_BJ2.zip
(4.52 KiB) Downloaded 1477 times
to your Mac/PC and unpack it. It contains two files: UAprof and UserAgent
3) Create the following folder on your iPhone: /var/root/Library/MMSApp/Phones/Samsung_BJ2
4) Transfer the UAprof and UserAgent files to this folder
5) Start SwirlyMMS, go to the Settings page and select the Samsung UserAgent
6) Save the settings
7) Try to send something

Special thanks goes to Jon and Gweener for helping out in the testing of this.

Good luck all of you!!

Thanks for the update ! I have done as you instructed, but still an error. I will try later to see if there are any changes. Thanks so much for working on getting this great app to run on AT&T. I'll post back if I have any success.

I had success today. As I have stated, the program worked until I received my bill and then it quit. But now as of today and yesterday I have been able to send and receive pictures.I am however a little bit bummed, do to the fact that I had to send one of my iphones which I purchased the program for, to be fixed was actually replaced and I only have 1 day remaining to use the free program.

Jon,

I have the basic iPhone 3G plan on AT&T. iPhone data, and I also have Unlimited Messaging. Not the iPhone Text Package,.. but Unlimited Messaging. I got that by enabling MediaNet with my SIM in another phone. Is this possibly the problem? Also, I am NOT on a Family Plan.

You need to use something to ftp/ssh into your phone. I like using a utility called Diskaid (both mac and pc) to access the files.
For more controls like viewing or changing properties I use Fugu(mac) or WinSCP(pc)
