Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

please review your mms and/or edge settings. the green m doesnt ligh up now. tried it on wi-fi aswell still dont work,

That shouldn't make any difference, as MMS messages go over the phone network, not the internet.

I get the "service denied (de)" message. Phoned o2 and they told me the iPhone tariff doesn't support MMS and it cannot be added on.

I too am getting the same error message.

I've phoned o2 Customer Services today and they said my phone is not provisioned for MMS. I asked them to provision it and was told NO!! they said they couldn't do that because it was an iPhone and it does not natively support MMS messaging. I tried my best with the operator but he was having none of it!

Has anyone else experienced the same with o2 cust spt or is it down to the luck of the draw of who you speak to??

Is there another way of getting round this??

Right, here is what I did to get around this. The setting from the page DO work but you do need MMS to be active which only o2 can do.

Here is the trick:

Email 1

Tell them that you want the ability to send and receive MMS when you put your SIM in another phone. Say you need to do this for work and have a phone you can do this on. (They usually reply with some bull)

Email 2 (If still not working)

Say you have tried and still are unable and pretty much repeat your request for MMS via an alternative HS.

This worked for me as soon as I got a message saying they had applied it to my account.

Hope this helps guys!

Hi There

I'm currently using the following setting but they don't work any idea why?

MMSC: mmsc.O2.co.uk:8002
Proxy: 193.113.200.195.8002
APN: wap.02.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password:password

When I try send send or fetch I get the same message - Failed - Could not connect to proxy (unable to locate host)

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I should have MMS enabled as my 02 account was already set up for my Sony Ericsson before I unlocked my iPhone

Thanks

Hi

The reason O2 wont enable MMS is as follows:

When a contract has: MMS enabled + handset that is non iphone

Say a friend sends a MMS it gets to O2 and O2 checks if you have MMS, which you do, and it will forward the MMS and all will be well with the world, fluffy kittens etc etc

With the iPhone

Your firend sends a MMS and it gets to O2, O2 sees that your on a iphone tarrif and that you dont support MMS so instead of forwarding you the MMS message if forwards to O2's online MMS and you get a SMS telling you to go online.

If your on your iphone tarrif and enable MMS you WONT get the sms messages saying that you have recieved an MMS meaning you will need swirly fully working.

One possible work around it to phone O2 and change your tarrif to a bog standard tarrif that will support MMS features

SWIRLY MMS O2 UK

MMSC: mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap

These are the settings required for Swirly on 02 UK.

Have been able to send but not receive, gonna try a sneaky one with 02 and see if it pays off

Hi I wonder if anyone can help - I've just loaded swirlymms on my 1st generation iphone and am trying it out - I've tried the settings as given by squigles :

SWIRLY MMS O2 UK

MMSC: mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password

I have also requested settings from o2 by pretending to have a motorola phone and they are exactly same as given by squigles, however I can't send as I keep getting the message :

" Failed to send MMS. The network reported : unsupported message - the message is placed in the outbox "

I have kept image size to : medium and put useragent ass : iphone

Can anyone please help ? I want to purchase swirly as i think it is great but want to check it works - will purchase it anyway.

Thanks Jay
