needSMS wrote:Having trouble getting swirlyMMS working.
I use t-Mobile and have had a subscription to the messaging service for 3 years. I downloaded the application to my phone via Cydia and configured it for T-Mobile via all the correct settings that are posted all over these forums. My phone is on firmware version 2.0.1.
Whenever I try to obtain a demo license I get message that says it Failed. I've installed the application twice.
I presume the software will not work until I at least have a demo license, but I've tried sending messages anyways both to myself and to other numbers.
Here is the error message I get when I attempt this:
Failed to send MMS
Possible incorrect mmsc setting
Unexpected http response
(HTTP/1.1 502 Next Hop Connection Failed)
-also-
Failed to send MMS
failed to POST: timeout or error when reading http header
Anyone know a solution or have a useful tip?
After 2 full days of painful troubleshooting, performing numerous uninstalls and re-installs, verifying settings over and over, rebooting my iPhone, reading forums, blah blah blah...
I've finally got SwirlyMMS working on my iPhone! The quote above was my issue to begin with. I originally was doing the install over the T-Mobile Internet service and trying to fetch my license over that connection as well since the speed is reasonable, at least around where I live. Tonight I decided to connect to my home WiFi and try to fetch the Demo license and low and behold, it was successful! I was shocked to say the least. I can now transmit/receive MMS messages via T-MobileWeb (formerly known as TZones). I swear I tried this in the past couple days but who know, with all the steps I performed I can't keep them straight. I should note that the images that I receive are downloaded and resized noticabally smaller, like many other users report and I haven't gotten that figured out yet. Needless to say I'll be moving on to another forum.
I have it configure with the network setting below:
http://216.155.174.84/servlets/MMS216.155.165.050:8080
wap.voicestream.com
User ID and Password are blank
If you have a WiFi connection available and can't do one of these - either get the software to install, fetch licensing, or tx/rcv messages properly... I recommend attempting via the WiFi connection and see what happens. I will definitely test away with this over my 'free' trial period to see what other bugs it has and if it's worth the whopping $8. Today that's 2 full gallons of gas. Hell, after the trouble I went through, I should be given a license.

UPDATE Since posted:
I got the image to stop being resized to almost unviewable by changing the "UserAgent" setting to Motorola_V630. At that point I could put it on the lowest Image Size setting "Minimum" and it would then still be resized, but to a MUCH better size than what I was originally getting. More along the lines of what it should be (160X120 - almost full screen on iPhone). From there I just moved up to Maximum and my image was the original full screen size that I sent.
****Image resize suggested fix: Look at the UserAgent options, research which model your service provider supports (T-Mobile, Cingular, etc), or find one that is similar if you can, and test with the settings. Or just try them all and test with all settings.
