I just recieved the exact same error... it was working perfectly on my 3G before I updated to the latest Swirly MMS. Tried it on my moms 2G iPhone and she is getting the same error. Whats up with that? We are both on 2.1fw

I use t-Mobile and have had a subscription to the messaging service for 3 years. I downloaded the application to my phone via Cydia and configured it for T-Mobile via all the correct settings that are posted all over these forums. My phone is on firmware version 2.0.1.

Whenever I try to obtain a demo license I get message that says it Failed. I've installed the application twice.
I presume the software will not work until I at least have a demo license, but I've tried sending messages anyways both to myself and to other numbers.
Here is the error message I get when I attempt this:

Failed to send MMS
Possible incorrect mmsc setting
Unexpected http response
(HTTP/1.1 502 Next Hop Connection Failed)
-also-
Failed to send MMS
failed to POST: timeout or error when reading http header

Anyone know a solution or have a useful tip?

After 2 full days of painful troubleshooting, performing numerous uninstalls and re-installs, verifying settings over and over, rebooting my iPhone, reading forums, blah blah blah... :x
I've finally got SwirlyMMS working on my iPhone! The quote above was my issue to begin with. I originally was doing the install over the T-Mobile Internet service and trying to fetch my license over that connection as well since the speed is reasonable, at least around where I live. Tonight I decided to connect to my home WiFi and try to fetch the Demo license and low and behold, it was successful! I was shocked to say the least. I can now transmit/receive MMS messages via T-MobileWeb (formerly known as TZones). I swear I tried this in the past couple days but who know, with all the steps I performed I can't keep them straight. I should note that the images that I receive are downloaded and resized noticabally smaller, like many other users report and I haven't gotten that figured out yet. Needless to say I'll be moving on to another forum.
I have it configure with the network setting below:

http://216.155.174.84/servlets/MMS
216.155.165.050:8080
wap.voicestream.com
User ID and Password are blank

If you have a WiFi connection available and can't do one of these - either get the software to install, fetch licensing, or tx/rcv messages properly... I recommend attempting via the WiFi connection and see what happens. I will definitely test away with this over my 'free' trial period to see what other bugs it has and if it's worth the whopping $8. Today that's 2 full gallons of gas. Hell, after the trouble I went through, I should be given a license.

UPDATE Since posted:
I got the image to stop being resized to almost unviewable by changing the "UserAgent" setting to Motorola_V630. At that point I could put it on the lowest Image Size setting "Minimum" and it would then still be resized, but to a MUCH better size than what I was originally getting. More along the lines of what it should be (160X120 - almost full screen on iPhone). From there I just moved up to Maximum and my image was the original full screen size that I sent.
****Image resize suggested fix: Look at the UserAgent options, research which model your service provider supports (T-Mobile, Cingular, etc), or find one that is similar if you can, and test with the settings. Or just try them all and test with all settings.

Do everything as it's written above, but leave out the "http://"

That's what worked for my iPhone 2G with 2.1 firmware.

Without the http:// it didn't work for me. After adding it, it worked...sort of. I am on a 1st gen iPhone 2.1 and sending a picture message to my wife's sidekick. She received a message from 333 saying she has a message and to view it she needs to visit http://www.my.tmobile.com and log in. She received this in her text message inbox not her picture message inbox. I then sent a picture message to my phone from hers and I received it with no problem. The picture quality was less than that of her camera phone pic but that was it.
