need US AT&T settings for iPhone 3G

Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

Hint: There's countries with iPhone providers outside the US! Holy hell! And please link to where it says on this site "Will work 100% Guaranteed on any provider!"?

It's not like this is some AT&T endorsed project where they'll hand over any and all information we need, so maybe someone will figure out some way that it will work while still keeping VVmail and everything else. Until then, all you can do is wait.

There seems to be a whole lot of confusion going on. I'll try to straighten things out.

A) Some people have set the following settings for AT&T to work and it just magically works with the iPhone plan in place:
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032
People say other settings works when they doesn't, but I have tried them all with same result myself, I get 403 errors on them as well.

B) Some people used that same setting and it doesn't work. They have called up AT&T and after saying they switch their SIM card back and forth between the iPhone and another phone (Example Sony W580i) and they can't send MMS pictures when they are using the SIM card in the other phone it it fixes it.

C) Some people have had to jump through even more loops. Some went to the lengths to say they don't have the iPhone to AT&T all together, and switched to a normal data plan and all worked well! However, they loose visual voicemail.

Now that that's all straightened out, I'd like to add I'm a first time SwirlyMMS user with a 3G unlocked iPhone running unlocked firmware v2.1 with AT&T. I also have a Family Plan, with a Family Text, and a Family MMS plan, all of which work on the other phones on our plan. I've been paciently watching in the shadows till I finally jumped for joy in the middle of class today and saw that it was on Cydia. I didn't get back from school until past 7:30pm, and I updated to firmware v2.1 for the occasion of SwirlyMMS as well as I needed to update anyway.

I get it all installed only to find out MMS isn't working once I tried every combination of MMSC and Proxy, and changing my phone's IDENT in the settings as well. I keep getting Foridden 403 error messages. I have yet to call AT&T as their support lines were closed well after I got v2.1 setup. Any suggestions on what to do? I am willing to give up Visual Voicemail, but would like to keep it and use MMS.

I have had a problem with my MMS as well recently. I noticed my friend with a 3G iPhone gets SMS messages informing him of MMS messages, with a URL to view a picture and such, when he recieved MMS's from friends. However, I do not get such messages. I had friends send him and me messages, he gets the notifications and messages and I get nothing. I had a problem with SMS's not working when they first added my iPhone and had to go back the next day, and the guy at the store "reapplied" the family text package and all worked. I went back last week trying to see if they could straighten out the MMS notifications not coming through to no avail and got the usual "iPhones don't do MMS". After convincing the sales guy, he saw that the MMS package would not apply to my phone for some reason, but took it back later and said that it was applied and it should would... so I don't know what state my account is in with MMS but i do not still get these message alerts and MMS with SwirlyMMS isn't working. Related?

Any input it appriciated! :-D

Did i say this was an ONLY USA product? no. I stated simply it came on the internet waves yesterday, but from what i can tell based on this website, and the settings as is, there is little support for the USA market. I wasn't looking for 100%, but I also wasn't looking for a 0-25% product. I will GLADLY pay $8 when this get's closer.

You're right, all i can do is wait. But I also have the right to inquire my opinion and ask questions during that process.

The problems not with this software. They might want to add or look into a way to circumvent AT&T's screwy settings, but It's AT&T being ass hats and setting up their plans with non-standard plans and blocking MMS servers and stuff and not having them the same as every other carrier. Don't blame the messenger (Swirly in this case, since their software is AMAZING.. but our provider is an idiot.

Does anyone think it's possible to get an AT&T tech to enable MMS without changing the IMIE? I have a feeling they can but don't understand how...

Maybe we just need to figure out how to get in touch with the right people over there.

I'm still getting the 403 error, however:

I have had a few reps verify that WAP push is on and MMS is enabled in snooper. l've only had AT&T messaging for about 15 hours now. Previous threads have suggested that it takes 24-48 hours for MMS to be enabled once you active it with AT&T.

So within a day or so l'll retry swirly. If the 403 error continues to show, I plan on calling at&t to confirm (yet again) that:
1) My plan current supports MMS
2) WAP Push is activated in snooper (this MUST be done by tech support!!)
3) MMS is enabled in snooper

For current at&t subscribers that have Messaging Unlimited (includes MMS) you're already one step ahead of me:

Enter:

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032

Call at&t:

Have them enable MMS AND wap push in snooper. A tech representative must do the wap push for you. Finally, make sure they push the data to you over the air! This is not done through snooper. Power cycle your phone. Let us know what happens!

What does this mean:
I cant send but I CAN receive parts of messages... Swirly will give me the title and text but fails to obtain the attachments.

I would have no problem paying $8 if i could install the app and it would work, mod a few settings etc.. no issue.. losing other features... doesn't work.

If i am going to pay.. it needs to be a WIN WIN... NOT A WIN LOSE solution.

Thanks for all the effort and keep up the good work, i will be watching for a proper fix/app and then will purchase. Thanks

Then call AT&T and yell at them for the way their server is set up. Swirly simply emulates what most phones do already, connect to the MMS server log in and send a message. Bickering about losing VVmail on here does no good, nothing swirly can do to fix that. I like my Visual voicemail, so I'm not using it unless someone figures out a way to use both. A which point I will shell over my 8$ and be all the happier. But there is nothing the devs can do about AT&T not working.

I am not bickering, sharing my thoughts / opinion which what message boards were for. Yeah, there may be a more appropriate place, and I appreciate the effort the developers have put into this, did they state this would work for everyone? no, just sharing my opinion (yeah, everyone has one) that i would not purchase until a win / win solution was available.. simple as that. And i agree, i will gladly shell out $8 when it works for me in the way I want it to. if that doesn't happen, then too bad for me i guess.
