Swirly vs. AT&T ***MYSTERY SOLVED***

Well apparently no one has taken the time to read the packages you send in with your information....that black jack info is so wrong for the iPhone, but it did help me figure out the main problem....


First research stuff before spreading bogus fixes and rumors....if anyone had read those files you would know why you can't get it to work. That file says the phone is what it isn't and does what it can't....so that's like throwing a baseball to a guy with no f*ckin arms. He wants to catch it...but just doesn't have the right equipment.

IT IS BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE FAMILY MMS PLAN YOU NEED YOUR WAP PUSH ENABLED AND YORU VLR RESET.....HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO BE TOLD??!!?!?!? THAT IS IT....EITHER MMS PLAN OR WAP PUSH ENABLED AND STOP CHANGING THE SETTINGS THEY ALL WORK WHEN THE IPHONE IS CONFIGURED CORRECTLY.

FOR EXAMPLE HOW MANY OF YOU EVEN KNOW TEHRE ARE TWO DATA PLANS FOR THE IPHONE....ONE HAS A LOT MORE WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY....HENCE WHY SOME OF YOUR PHONES WORKED. There was an error at AT&T when teh 3G came out and some of ou were given the enterprise data plan for iphone when you signed up for basic unlimited.

So.....let's not hear anymore about your damn settings,....it's not the holy grail

Wow! this thread was just kinda funny before, but now it's friggin hilarious Great comeback by the way I just wanted to post that I called AT&T the other day, and they did do as I asked (or at least the said that they did) and none of the setting work. The lady I talked to told me that I already had WAP push enabled (I called and asked for this once before). I did the whole "IT IS BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE FAMILY MMS PLAN YOU NEED YOUR WAP PUSH ENABLED AND YORU VLR RESET" thing, and guess what...it doesn't work. So I was... Oh hell, I just can't get past how funny this thread has become. so hey douche baggins..

Ok I called AT&T and I got a really cool rep. He verified that I had the family MMS messaging plan and WAP push enabled. He then resent my OTA and reset my VLR. I rebooted. Waited 60 seconds. Powered up and it still doesnt work. I asked if he could add a pay as you go media net package. He said he could not. What else can I do to get this working?

I WANT TO TROW THIS OUT THERE. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD USE THE SIMS FROM MY OLD 8520. HERE GOES
1.JAILBREAK AND UNLOCK IPHONE
2. CALL AT&T, AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THANK THEM FOR THE WONDERFUL JOB THEY ARE DOING. REALLY USE SAY A LAND LINE NOT THE IPHONE OR THE 8520 OR OTHER PHONE WITH A SIM. TELL THEM YOU WONT TO SWITH YOUR CURRENT PLAN TO THE 8520, BECAUSE YOUR IPHONE IS "MISPLACED" GET THE UNLIMITED MEDIANET WITH MOBILE MESSAGING (MMS).
3. TAKE THE SIMS OUT OF THE IPHONE AND 8520
4. MAKE SURE THE IPHONE IS POWERED DOWN.
5. INSERT THE SIMS FROM THE 8520 INTO THE IPHONE
6. WHEN THEY REACTIVATE THE 8520 THAT SHOULD RESET EVERYTHING.
7. WAIT 5MINS TURN THE IPHONE ON. BOB'S YOUR UNCLE
I'AM FOREVER MISPLACING THINGS BUT WHEN I DO FIND IT AGAIN I ALWAYS PUT IT BACK TO GOOD USE.
WILL YOU STILL BE ABLE TO GET APPS AND MUSIC FROM ISTORE AND WHAT NOT? WILL YOU GET UPDATES FOR THE APPS?

Hi there. First let me say that you do need to do everything the original poster said you need to do...call AT&T, have them do all of the things listed and so on. Now if that does not do it for you, then you are NOT completely out of luck as the original poster has states. You can completely ignore his rant from the directions point forward.

After taking all of the listed steps, I got no joy, so as a last ditch effort, I put my sim card from my iPhone into my wifes razor. I made a couple of phone calls, sent a couple of texts, and power cycled it a couple of times. I then went on the Internet on the razor ( it would not let me go on the first one I tried). It took about five minutes before I could access the Internet with the razor after putting my sim card in it, but it worked. I simply went through a couple of the pages in the menu, then closed it. After a couple of minutes more, I could send an MMS from the razor. At that point. I turned off the razor and put my sim card back in my iPhone, and Shazam...it worked. I sent a d received several MMS messages, and it has worked perfect ever since.

So if you have tried all of the other steps listed on the numerous threads both here and everywhere else, then I recommend that you try this as well.

So I tried all of what you said, I called AT&T and this was what I got
Question Answer
1) Enable MMS - MMS is already enabled, there is nothing else we can do
2) Enable WAP Push - We can not do this, you use Safari, and since you have an iPhone we can not enable this for
you
3) Send my OTA - They would not respond to this
4) Reset my VLR - They will not do this since it can cause issues

I called again the next day, same answers
I called again the next day, again same answers

So, whatever you they did for you, I have called now 7 times total, and they will NOT do any of these steps... So instead of just calling us idiots how about showing how smart you really are and tell us how to get this to work.

FYI, I get a green M, but I am unable to send a picture...

DrSuess, did you read my post(just above yours?). Unless they have made a deliberate policy change, they should (and are capable) of executing everything listed above. Once you have done all of the above (using the Jedi mind trick on AT&T) try the last step I listed above. It has been working for me now for a couple of months now, with no issues. Even after a restore. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

First, what do I say when I ask to have my wap pushed? What are vlr and ota and what are my explanations for requesting these things?
