WORKING ATT SETTINGS AS OF 1-23-09

These settings WORK. I have been through alot of these threads. I never write posts, but I am doing this for everyone in need of help. here is what u HAVE to do for this to work.

mmsc.cingular.com
wireless.cingular.com
blank
blank
blank
image size:maximum
useragent Nokia n95

Now to keep all your features here is what u do. Call ATT. transfer to tech support. Make sure you have REGULAR TEXT MESSAGING PLAN (I have the unlimited for 20$. it includes MMS, and text messages) and make sure they enable WAP. Heres the deal. I told them i switch sim cards between phones, bc im a realtor and need to send pics. This is why I need REGULAR text messaging plan and not the iphone text messaging plan. The iphone text messaging plan does not allOW MMS. This ends up giving you the error "The network reported:service denied (pe)" Thats because the messaging plan for the Iphone does not allow mms. The regular text messaging plan does. Once you switch it like I did, and have WAP enabled. then it works perfect. (I think Wap automatically gets enabled when u switch to the regular text messaging plan)

Here is what is on my ATT account. 59.99 900 minute national plan, 30.00 unlimited iphone data package, 19.99 unlimited text,MMS. I am in florida, so the settings I have listed as far as Swirly settings may be regional (Im not sure)
So once again the key is:TECH SUPPORT, REGULAR TEXT MESSAGING,not iphone text messaging plan. and Enable WAP PUSH. and it will work.

I pray this helps as many people as possible.

Following this worked for me as well. I *FINALLY* just sent my first picture message on my 3g iPhone. I just wanted to register and say thanks! It was a huge pain trying to get the rep's to add the correct settings. I called a million times, each time the rep would say they have the correct settings, but of course didn't.

Here's what I did that was different. Because the rep's could never get it right(and I didn't know exactly what had to be enabled) I completely disabled the iphone data and iphone messaging. From there I told him I had an old flip phone I was going to be using and to disable both my iphone data and messaging. He than proceeded to add "Regular Text Messaging + PICTURES" The directions above didn't state this, it only said "regular text messaging" For now just tell the rep you want to have the "Pay per use data" added. Make sure WAP PUSH is enabled as well even though I think it already is at this point. (Make sure to thank the rep because if it weren't for them this work around wouldnt work at all ;) After this I logged into my wireless account online at wireless.att.com. It stated that my phone was the Samsung A517. Obviously this was not true so I proceeded to change my phone back to the iphone. I than added data unlimited for $15 to give me back my unlimited data use not the pay per use.

MMSC= mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy= wireless.cingular.com
APN= wap.cingular
Username= WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password= CINGULAR1 (all caps)
image size:maximum
useragent iPhone

I believe both of the settings will work as long as you have the mmsc and proxy correct.

Can't this be done online without a rep? By changing your phone and adding mms?

I just called and they will not remove the data service. The data is required because I have the iPhone. She did swicth me to regular text and not the iPhone text but...Still not working

It may be possible to do it online however, when you have the sim in your iphone and you are on wireless.att.com you do not receive the choices that are needed. Just transfer to a tech to do all this. It really all depends on the rep you receive. I tried many and most said that the features arent available but there were others who went right ahead and did what I asked and switched all my settings.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I called AT&T and told them I needed to use an old phone for the occasional picture message. She changed my account from iphone text message to standard text messaging and said wap push is enabled. I try to send a message and I get a 403 Forbidden error. I tried a regular text through the standard app and it worked fine, but I can't even get a test message with no picture to through on SwirlyMMS.

I too am in Florida so I thought the posted settings would likely work but I also tried several others and same thing every time.

Does it take a while for the settings to be updated on the network? I logged into my account and it shows the correct messaging plan now and the woman I spoke with assured me that wap push was enabled by default for regular messaging plans. Any thoughts on how I can get this to work?

It works!!! Talk about frustrating though. I just can't figure out why AT&T and Apple are making it so difficult for us to send mms messages. Anyway, here is what worked for me:

I called AT&T and gave them the story about needing to use a backup phone to send picture messages on occasion. The woman switched my texting and said wap push was enabled. I then tried it and it didn't work. I then posted on here. I then tried it some more. Still nothing. I put the sim into my Blackberry Curve and still couldn't send picture messages. I was about to call to find out why it still wasn't working when I received a text message from AT&T. It was gibberish but appeared to be some sort of system message. I assume it was the OTA thing that some people have suggested requesting OTA to push to the phone.

Once I received that I was golden. Picture messaging worked on my Blackberry. I then put the sim back into my iPhone and tried sending a basic message. It worked. I then tried sending a picture message and that worked as well. I have not yet tried receiving one but the sending part is working finally.
