WORKING NOW: SOFTBANK (JAPAN) settings not working

Belgian factory unlocked 8GB 3GiP + 3G Softbank SIM card (the mail account is still [email protected]). Newest firmware, Jailbroken, and latest SwirlyMMS with demo license.

I have problems with the on this page listed MMS settings. I can't figure what password should be entered for the open softbank settings. The vodafone settings (with the standard password) will connect and report incoming mms. however, when trying to display them, "Fetch Error: unexpected http response..." message appears. When trying to send a mms, "Possible incorrect mmsc setting. Unexpected http response (HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden)" error message returns.

Anyone who reported it working can shed some light on it?

Got it working now:

1. Set Data Roaming to ON (may not be necessary)
2. Download the XN02NK User Agent profiles from this webpage: http://mp61.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2008 ... wir-3.html (click the XN02NK link in the 3rd agenda point -> "- DiskAid..")
3. Save the files UAprof & UserAgent to the folder /private/var/root/Library/MMSApp/Phones/X02NK/
4. Set the MMS settings (other Proxy/APN may work just as well):
MMSC: http://mms/
Proxy: mmsopen.softbank.ne.jp
APN: mailwebservice.vodafone.ne.jp
Username: vodafonelive
Password: qceffknarlurqgbl
UserAgent: X02NK

I assume that the useragent profiles delivered with the application do not work when downloading/ sending MMS.

Hi --

I'm in JP with an unlocked iPhone (yellowsn0w) and on the Softbank network using a prepaid SIM. Installed SwirlyMMS and the XN02NK user agent profiles. Everything (I think) is setup following your instructions (thank you for those, btw!)

New MMSs are received just fine. Any mail sent to *******@softbank.ne.jp is received fine. Well, the subject line is received.

My problem is that the message can't be downloaded and new mail can't be sent. I get timeout problems connecting to the proxy. I've tried several other proxy setttings all to no avail.

Any suggestions? Help? Hints? Are the settings you are using still working? Anybody on Softbank prepaid get this to work?

Thanks all!!!

Did you check that WiFi is turned off? Do you have data access (internet) in general with the prepaid contract you made? It should be a 3G prepaid contract, not the older regular one! Another problem could be that SBM won't allow this specific model (X02NK) to work in conjunction with the prepaid SIM as their product pages states that the MMS plan "Does not apply to some models".

Usually, the proxy won't be the problem but try another APN too.

Hi all -- I did have WiFi turned on and that was the problem. Duh - trying to connect through WiFi instead of the data cellular connection.

Thanks for the help!

Hi, I cannot get this working, I am going around in circles. I am wondering if this is still working for you, on firmware 3.1?

EDIT: nevermind, I got it working, I had to change the APN settings using www.unlockit.co.nz as well as the above settings. Thanks for the help.

Need help for softbank APN hacking

Dear all forums,

I need some help. Now I am using softbank 3G 16GB iphone, jailbroken, unlocked.
I don't need to use the data except the softbank s!mail.
1. Is it possible to hack the APN so I can receive the s!mail without using the data? I mean by hacking the APN setting, I can not use the internet data but still can receive the s!mail.
2. Is it possible to use the common 3G (grey simcards) with certain APN setting for receiving s!mail without touching the data?
3. If, all of those are possible, could someone share the APN setting for s!mail only?

Thank you very much and hope will hear good news from you.....
