ATT Finally a 100% correct one:)

I know this is probably posted somewhere else on this forum, but I THOUGHT I'd make this easy to find, since all of those other ones are burdened by endless replies. I tried countless things to get my swirly working on my iphone 3g, and at first I had some that kind of worked then they stopped; well I found the post that really gives the legit easy steps. It does work, I've sent/received about 15 mms, it's pretty quick too.

I can confirm that the following steps will allow Swirly to work on your AT&T iPhone. I got this from the swirly forums and it worked for me.I think you need family plan with messaging on it also, which I do.

First, you will need a regular AT&T/Cingular phone. I used a old Nokia 2610. You should be able to use any phone as long as it is Media Net compatible.

Take the SIM from your iPhone, Insert it in to a standard phone, Make a phone call, wait about 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes go to the following link,

http://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/app/MC/Default.aspx

Enter in your mobile number(it might say your phone is not supported.. if so wait a little longer and try again), then at the next screen it will ask for a 4 digit code.

The 4 digit code will be sent to your phone via Text message.

Enter the code in on the website and then you should be able to access the main Media Net site.

Now send a mms. It will take some time for the network to recognize the phone. Be patient. Took me about 10 minutes. Dont continue until you have successfully sent a message.

Now take out the sim card and place it back in the iPhone.

Make sure the Swirly MMS Settings are as follows...

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032

leave apn, username, and password fields blank..

Ok, confirmed that this DOES work however, it only works for like 10 minutes. Not sure what the problem is but I did try this 4 seperate times today and 3 out of the 4 times it did allow me to send and receivie MMS's but for only 10 mins or so. After that, I started getting the 403 forbidden error. Now I'm not sure what must be done as I do know of others that DO have it working for months now. I do have the family plan for my texting and it SHOULD work. I have also called AT&T and talked to someone who was very willing to help and still nothing. I did have this working on my old iPhone back in September and it worked until I switched out my phone not too long ago. When I did get it working the other time I must say that an at&t rep did something and I re-booted the phone and BAM! I did also have the standard text plan (not iphone one) and it should be the same as the family plan. Other than that, I did have a different SIM other than the one that comes inside the iPhone but I don't think that should make a difference right..? Anyway, I'm not sure who has this working properly right now but I would think that if you did and decided to switch phones and then go back to the iphone and try this again, you may be in the same boat as me right now.

This method works, but the thing is I can send MMS's, but Nobody is receiving them.

Edit: Only worked for about 20 minutes.

Before swirly version 1.2.15 I have had problems. It worked than didn't, worked than didn't. Now that i upgraded to the newest version its been great... The only problem is receiving from verizon phones. takes about an hour or 2. Probably on verizons end. other than that its great!!
