Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

FOR REAL THIS WORKS FOR ATT, TRIED ON 6 IPHONE 3Gs!

ok so, after reading about everyone calling att and whatnot i realized that the first time i installed swirly i didn't do anything it just worked.

this proved to me that i didn't need something overtly complicated
HERE ARE MY SETTINGS
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
proxy: wireless.cingular.com (notice, no numbers or anything)
apn: wap.cingular
username: [email protected] (case sensitive)
Password: CINGULAR1 (case sensitive)
image size: medium (your pref, works with all)
User Agent: iphone

now, here is the kicker. it took me FOREVER to figure this out. type these settings in. try it, it won't work. good. now quit out of swirly and take out your sim card. get an old phone, i used a go phone, and plug the sim in there. now try sending a picture going online etc. it won't work. no worries, (if it does, youre not using a go phone, all the same doesn't matter)
after that, take out the sim, let it sit for a minute (be patient) then while your iPhone is still on, put the card back in.

THAT'S IT
it sounds confusing, but i did it on all of my friends iPhones and they got it to work as well. so i don't see why it shouldn't work on yours

good luck!

It's based on the plan setup. You need to have the non-iphone messaging plan and to setup medianet from the website once your SIM card is in another phone. Once you can send a picture from the other phone.... even if you need ATT on the phone while setting it up and sending a picture message it'll work. Just tell them you have a Blackjack that you use for picture messaging and you will be switching back and forth from time to time. They don't recommend it, but it works. Make sure you don't set the user agent to iPhone. Set it to Blackjack... even if you don't have one. Once the MMS is sent successfully on the other phone, put the sim back into the iphone. Make a phone call to anyone and then send an MMS. It works.

What's the additional cost to have the functionality to use Medianet? I'm sure they're not going to let us get away using it for free!

Tested this, at first it didn't work. Then the next morning mms started working. Sent several sms and mms. HOWEVER when the att system refreshed about 12pm that day I not only lost mms I lost sms too. Rebooted, hard rebooted, reset the phone. Talking to att and iphone reps, took 4 hours and I am waiting for my sim to reactivate over the air. I'll post if my basic sms returns.

So I got AT&T on the phone today and told them that even though I have a media messaging plan on my account and have an iPhone, that I want the SIM card to be able to work in another AT&T phone I have. The woman was very cooperative, but said that they couldn't turn on the media messaging functionality of the SIM card since it's an iPhone SIM card. She said the area they'd need to fill out in their system is grayed out, so there wasn't anything she could do about it. Any suggestions?

The above settings work! I just finished using quickpwn, used the above settings, and it works!

A little background info.. AT&T w/ unlimited text family plan.. previous phone was an 8525. :)

heres where im currently at. i called att and got them to switch to my blackberry in their system
as of right now it seems to me that the reason i am still unable to send mms is the fact that im IMEI still reads as an iphone in att's server. If i jailbreak and put my blackberry's imei in the phone it might work. with thtat said my other theory is this, there is already settings for the blackjack2 and for a few motorolas in the swirly app. is it possible that i have to activate an att phone with one of those such phones so when the app sends information to the server that it would recognize it correctly? just a couple of thoughts. i will be posting this on a few forums just to be sure

Well, tried your method. Amazing enough, it WORKED! I never even needed the to wait for a MMS to send with my other at&t phone. Funny thing was it was NOT working when I put the SIM back into the iphone. Took about 10 mins or so. The only problem is, I was only able to send out like 3 or 4 MMS's. I then started getting the forbbiden message again. It must be something that allows at&t to see thje iphone data vs regular date. I swear to you I have changed my phone over to my other phone on their website (the part that shows the pic of your phone) and only minutes after I put the SIM back into the iphone BAM! I hit refresh on their site, and the iphone pic is back. How the hell do they know?! Maybe the same way they keep turning this off?!
