Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

O2 Iphone contract UK 100% working (Read on!)

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their previous posts as without them I would have torn even more of my hair out!

The following settings are actually working on my Iphone right now (as of 30th November 2008). I have physically tested them to my own Iphone and to others (send and receive).

Iphone 3G Settings Mine is a Jailbroken 2.2 Iphone 3G FYI)

MMSC - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy - 193.113.200.195:8080
APN - wap.o2.co.uk
Username - o2wap
Password - password

Image size - High
UserAgent - Samsung_BJ2(AT&T)

If your settings are correct you should see a little 'M' in a box. This will turn green if your settings are correct!

YOU NOW NEED TO CALL O2 AND GET THEM TO CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS (WITHOUT FAIL)

I had to call O2 (customer service and Iphone department) several times in order to actually speak to someone who knew what I was trying to achieve (maybe they have a Jailbroken Iphone 3G?? )

They will tell you that MMS cannot be enabled on the Iphone tariff...... This is not true!

You will need an excuse - "I love my Iphone and as such want to protect it a weekend when I go out and get drunk, hence I take out my old Nokia N95 and want to be able to send picture messages from it. For this reason I want you to enabe MMS messaging..... please"
Iphone department will probably say it can't be done.... BS.... They've done it for me!

There is a tick box called "Lift MMS Bar" which when ticked will do exactly as the box states. The girl told me that this may take between 2 and 48 hours to 'refresh' however mine was operational in approximately 20 minutes :D :D

If they do not do what you ask. When you try and send a MMS you will receive an error message something like 'The network reported: service denied (pe)"

When I was told it couldn't be done I told them that 'a friend' of mine had had it done.

Presistence is key.... do not give up! IT CAN AND DOES WORK!

Finally I can send and receive MMS messages on my Iphone........

All smiles :D :) :D :) :D :) :D :)

thanks for the above it helped at lot :)

So as above comfirmed working 100% :) i have a iphone 3g on firmw 2.2

and just so you know sending a MMS cost us 4 standard text messages from our allowance :)

Heres what i did
From your iPhone ring 2302 (Free)
*i press the opions for billing*
when you get through - I told them

"Ive been speaking to my friend and you upgraded his iphone account to Use MMS as he uses his sim in two phones (2nd phone for just sending mms message at weeking when we go out) and i would like to do the same
he said ok could take upto 48 hours - (i said fine)
i tried it like 5mins after it worked :)
that was it so easy

Opening hours Monday - Friday 08:00 - 21:00
Weekend 08:00 - 20:00

MMS settings that i use O2 iphones are - * now the above guy used high but i found medium worked a bit better but hey high worked as well but it takes longer to send :)

also here is a little tip when you input the Proxy address go back in and make sure you can see the port settings

**Please note the red circle when you check the settings make sure you can see the port settings

MMSC - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy - 193.113.200.195:8080
APN - wap.o2.co.uk
Username - o2wap
Password - password

Image size - Medium
UserAgent - iPhone

using those settings i sent a MMS to my bro and his girl friends Nokia phone both got the picture fine :)

Hi chaps, thanks for the posts, very helpful, and I can echo the call up more than once routine, the first operator was insistant it was not possible, the next call and the operatord just said "sure" its done !. I may be impatient, (after readin that it can happen in 20 minutes !) but am currently getting swirly saying :

"FAILIURE
You dont have an active GPRS/EDGE/3G connection for the
moment! This can be due to a
temporary problem in the network or
thet your APN settings are incorrect.
Please verify your APN settings
on the Settings page"

i am hoping this is just because it hasnt been ectivated yet - 45 minutes lol, and on a Sunday evening at 6pm, so Ill give it the 24 hours the operator mentioned..

If u get that message then you have done something wrong with the mms settings.

With the correct settings but unactive MMS account the error message would be "service denied" message.

thats not a connection error the only time i get that message is when the resolution was set to high,

hmm strange the only thing i can think of would be uninstall the program and re-install it maybe that might fix it

Thanks !.

I did a re-install, and tried various image settings, as well as getting auto settings mms from Nokia for the 7200 (which incidentally swirly received their mms ). I aslo tried sending only a subject line with no image - but I get the same error message every time, and there is definately signal strength !.

Any help much appreciated.
