Does anyone know why AT&T does what they do?

Seriously, why do they have such a system in place to disable WAP push on the iPhone? Other networks with the iPhone don't do this. Does anyone have a reasonable answer? I'm just curious.

I would think only Apple and top dogs at ATT know why. My guess is a marketing scheme for the 3rd gen iPhone. Gives the people that don't know anything about jailbreaking or third party apps something to look forward to and upgrade the phones. Make sense?
