Books has been updated (to 1.4-r469) and is rather unstable.

To continue using Books (the new version) with SwirlyMMS, you have to remove the old symbolic link, then create another one as it seems that Books has finally been updated to work according to 1.1.3+ firmwares (root vs mobile).

In WinSCP, go to the current EBooks directory:

/private/var/root/Media/EBooks

Then at the top, click on "Commands" -> "Open Terminal" and type in: rm MMSFiles

Once completed, right-click on "EBooks" and click on "Move To..."

In the move field, copy and paste:

/private/var/mobile/Media/

Then go into the newly-moved "EBooks" directory/folder (located in /private/var/mobile/Media/ and click on "Commands" -> "Open Terminal" and copy and paste:

ln -s /private/var/mobile/Media/MMSFiles /private/var/mobile/Media/EBooks

Click "Execute" and that should be it. Restart your iPhone (just to be safe).

And once again, if you ever wanted to remove the symbolic link, make sure that when in WInSCP, you are in the "EBooks" directory:

/private/var/mobile/Media/EBooks

Then go to "Commands" -> "Open Terminal" and type in: rm MMSFiles

After that, you can delete the "EBooks" folder provided that you do not have any ebooks installed.

Fabian,

I just got my iphone and I'm a newby. To tell you the truth I am rather disappointed with the iphones limited functions but am still awed by all the things it is capable of doing. For instance, has a great camera but you cant forward or send a picture message. I really need your help on your "alternative to MobileFinder"

Like i said im new to this and I dont know how to execute your first step. "Connect to your iPhone with WinSCP (make sure you have OpenSSH installed on your iPhone; also available via Installer)"

Mobile Finder is doing nothing for me and installer won't let me install mobile preview. I can receive picture messages thru swirly but i cant see what they are. Also i can send a pic msg but the picture is blacked out. So i would really like to unistall mobile finder and use your solution.

I already had installed ebooks so I am ready to use it. I looked in installer but i can't find an application that says WinSCP or OpenSSH. Can you help me find these appliations? I have never seen any files on my phone like you described in your solution. Thanks in advance for your help. Hopefully the 1.0 version will be out soon.

WinSCP is a windows application.

Anyway, you can download "ruBooks" from installer and just simply navigate to the MMS directory on your phone. No need for "Books" or linking directories.

ruBooks also has zooming functionality.
