AT&T **WORKING** Settings!!!!

Here goes the different settings for MMSC, Proxy and APN that have been proven usable.

Username and password do not matter. Was talking with AT&T yesterday and getting the settings for MMS saying it was for another phone. He said username/password leave blank or put anything in, the server apparantly does not care. Only settings that matter are

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 066.209.011.032
APN: wap.cingular

And you are correct, so long as you have those settings, everything will work assuming AT&T has correctly set MMS up on your account which is the huge issue :(

Ok......I will try to explain how I got mine done exactly.

1. Put you sim card into another phone that has mms capabilities, turn it on, call at&t.

2. Tell them you use your other phone for mms sometimes switching back and forth and would like for them to send a wap push and mms push ota(over the air). You can also try step three at the same time with adding step 3 feature while it's still in that other phone, it still might work, it's not what I did though.

3. Put sim back into iphone, have them add media net pay per use(soc code wxp1) without removing iphone data plan. While your doing all this dont tell them it's in your iphone.

4. Put you settings like in the attachment.

5. Reboot iphone. Should work. I also notice at first while using the application I have to have perfect service all 5 bars otherwise it wont send. After I use it awhile, I am able to end with 2 or more.

After looking at my account I noticed after adding media net pay per use it was removed within 4 minutes so there should be no worries of overages. They did a system sweep to remove it but it didnt matter, it only needed to be there temporarily to activate the mms settings because mine is still working since the 19th.

Good luck!

OK so i have been looking for some settings to work with this and att so i called att ad told them i have 2 phones which i do and one is a old nokia make sure they have that one down as the main phone you use then make sure the MMS on that phone works with your number. then just pop the sim into the iphone and make the settings as follows:
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
PROXY: 066.209.011.032

APN: (blank)
Username: (blank)
Password:(blank)

Image size: Medium
UserAgent: Nokia_N95

the most important thin is making sure that pic messaging works on the other phone this means you can receive and send pics to another phone. To do this just pop ur sim in another phone and try sending it to urself if it doesnt work you need to call att and get it to work in the other phone. email me at cjgonzales1900@gmail.com with any questions i might be able to answer i know how it feels to look for an answer and try for hours and not get a working swirlyMMS so email me and i might be able to help.

I have seen speculation all over the web and now I am starting to believe that ATT does indeed BLOCK mms from getting out from iPhone as soon as it's detected. I had this working yesterday. I sent 5 or so messages testing. Then it stopped working. I put the SIM into my ATT Tilt, it still did not work. I called ATT back (I have to go through their business area). He did something to my account to make it work again from my Tilt. I put the SIM back into the iPhone and later.... again it stopped working.

This morning it still does not work. I have gotten 2-3 very similar but different error messages "Failed to send MMS. Could not connect to proxy. The MMS is place in the outbox." a 403 error, and a permission denied error.

I really wish I could talk to the corporate folks and find out why on earth they even care if we can send MMS messages from the iPhone. It makes not one bit of sense to me. I only wish that I knew about the block for sure before I paid the $8 for the software.

BTW, when i called ATT and spoke to 2 different reps and tech support they tried to add the Medianet Per Use to my account and no matter what they did it would not let them do it as long as the iPhone plan was on there. It's amazing to me that people are having such different experiences getting this to work. I ended up just having them completely remove the iPhone from my account and put it back on my Tilt. The rep could not believe that i had gotten a coworkers Blackberry SIM to work in my iphone. She didn't think the data would work at all, but it did. So, she had no problem changing me over to the Tilt plan after I told her that I would be flipping my SIM back and forth when i needed to.

So anyway, it seems like this does work, the settings are right, BUT if ATT detects that an iPhone is sending an MMS it then blocks further traffic from that sim. Grrrrrr.

Well....mine has been working since sept. 19th. Sure, sometimes I do get errors, mostly some kind of failed to send header or 408, and I have to try and resend but it does end up going. Only on outgoing though. I have no problems whatsoever with incoming, so I think it might be the app for me. But, hey I'm not complaining it works!

And yes I still have visual voicemail. :D

ok so last night the MMS was working perfectly and now its not so ATT detects ur iphone with the IMEI and then puts the restriction back on it so you cant send MMS This seems to work for a day after you do everything to get it to work. so its not worth it you have to change ur IMEI so they wont tell you have a iphone thats the only way that you can keep the channel open to send and receive MMS.

Wow. So I called up AT&T and told them I was trying to use my old W810i with my iPhone SIM and that it wouldn't send MMS (which it won't). They told me they would have to re-provision me in order to get that feature to work. That would involve removing the iPhone data plan. And then I would have to call back and get re-provisioned when I switch the SIM back. AND that each time I did, I would incur an activation charge for the plan change AND get billed one month in advance for the new service!

I'm starting to think they are getting tired of us calling.

SwirlyMMS still doesn't work for me, obviously. They won't even help me set up a phone that actually DOES MMS.
